I am a painter and mixed-media artist whose work addresses contemporary social and political issues by way of updated 17th and 18th century design motifs, including dinnerware, wallpaper and interior decor.

My work for Brooklyn Utopias? is centered around the former Childs Restaurant that lines the boardwalk at Coney Island. I have decorated the plates with nautical themed medallions from the building, and the mantelpiece incorporates the Spanish Revival Style terra cotta details from the building. I believe the building's use, dis-use, land-marking and re-use (as a roller rink) is emblematic of unusual architecture in the city. Also, the style is modeled after one of late 17th early 18th c. Spain, and thus contemporaneous with the Old Stone House, but radically different.
